Art Studio.

The client wanted a light filled space to use as an art studio, they had sourced some reclaimed oak joinery before the project began so we incorporated these measurements at the design stage to ensure everything would work together. Using a mix of windows and direct glazing to the oak frame meant we could get as much light into the space as possible.

The handmade oak frame was built in our workshop and then erected on-site, using traditional mortise and tenon joinery with oak pegs to hold the joints.

We used natural slate for the roof and featured a lead ‘mop handle’ detail for the hips and ridge.

Once the studio was built we focused on the external landscaping, with some Indian sandstone paving and steps leading to the garden, we also created raised sleeper beds for the client to plant up with a variety of plants and shrubs.
